When launching a new Internet marketing plan, looking at Web design options (dental Web design or otherwise), you have to decide whether or not you would be happy with a templated website design.

Template Web Design

I find that the plastic surgeons, dentists, and other professionals that I speak with have one of two reactions to the idea of using a template website design. A client will either turn his nose up at them because he wants something all his own and views template website designs as fundamentally inferior to custom websites, or the client is eager to save time and money by taking advantage of a template. Either reaction is perfectly all right.

Template Web designs do save time and money: time, because we won't have to design something from scratch; and money, because of the time we save, I don't have to charge as much to complete the project. The key is finding a template Web design that you like.

For this reason, template Web designs are not for everyone. You may also have a problem with the possibility, however remote, that someone will visit your site and find out that it looks nearly identical to another website. That can happen, but it's not likely. I won't sell the same template to competing businesses, that's for sure.

Customization of the template website designs is important. The more tweaks that you make, the more the site "becomes your own". Add your logo, your bio information, and especially your photos of you, your staff, your building if you like, and if you're a dentist or a plastic surgeon, it's critical to include before and after photos of your patients. Still, even with all of these customizations, some people just have to go the custom website design route.
