I have been working with Jonathan Fashbaugh and Concerto Internet Marketing to produce a new website for my professional services. From the beginning, Jonathan has made sure that he and I were working "together" to create a new website. Some of the companies I had contacted were more interested in keeping me out of the process than drawing me into it. Concerto truly does seek to produce a product that is a combined effort, done with a harmonious working relationship.

Custom Web Design

in Fort Collins and all over the US and Canada

Whether you're a dentist, a plastic surgeon, or any other professional or small business owner, it's obvious that if you want to launch an Internet marketing campaign, you need a website, and for most that means building a new website from the ground up. A custom website design is the best way to stand out from the crowd and project the right image for your business.

There are several steps to building a custom website design, and lots of pitfalls to avoid as well. First, you want to be sure that you'll own the website when it's all said and done. Next, truly custom Web design comes complete with custom website content, that is, the actual text of your website. Steer clear of building a custom website using duplicate content.

Once you have the content figured out and ready, it's time to give your website a face, and begin working on the actual design. This is the fun part, or at least it should be fun. The ease of this part of the project will depend mostly on communication.

Communication in Custom Website Design

Obviously, there are two parties involved in building a website (actually, sometimes there are more, and that can be quite the challenge): you the client and me the Web design company. In order to succeed in building a quality custom website design, these two parties must do a very good job of communicating with each other.

You, the website design client, have a duty to communicate all of your goals, likes, dislikes, and any other input that would be helpful to the project. Err on the side of too much input. Let me sort out what is pertinent and helpful. More direction means that your website design will be more likely to turn out to your liking. It's important to know that website designers are not mind readers. Don't assume anything. You probably have an understanding of what a basic website should look like. Well, that understanding may not be the same as mine, or of the people who will visit your website. Everyone is different, so it's important to communicate your unique ideas, even if they seem obvious.

As the manager of your Web design project, my duty is to listen, collaborate, and act as your consultant. First, the listening component is critical. Just as you should not assume anything, neither should your Web design company. I will do everything I can to elicit direction from you. So you're working hard to give me all the input that you can think of, and I'll be asking questions to extract details of your vision that you might not even know to tell me. This type of collaboration is the foundation on which a successful custom website design is built.

My Role as Your Web Design Consultant

After listening, my next most important role in building your custom website is that of a Web design consultant. At Concerto Internet Marketing, I lead the way. You know your business better than I'll ever know it, and the opposite is true. If I let you take full control of the direction of the project, you'll eventually get stressed out and frustrated because you know what you want, but don't know how to get there. You'll also (hopefully) feel somewhat insecure that your end product will actually accomplish what you want it to do: get business in the door. As a Web design consultant, I know how to take your input and match it up with the principles of Web design that are necessary to make your custom website a success. With a knowledgeable Web design consultant, building a custom website will be a relatively painless process, and you're sure to be more than satisfied with the results.
