Website Analysis

Your Internet marketing consultant serving Loveland and the rest of the U.S. and Canada

After you've identified the keywords that you want to target with search engine optimization, it's time to have an Internet marketing consultant give your website a thorough analysis. If you don't have a website, see the Concerto Web design section. Concerto Internet Marketing provides consulting services as well as complete Web marketing packages. Contact me today and we can figure out which option will best fit your needs.

At Concerto Internet Marketing, I analyze your website based on several criteria:

  • Content
  • General appearance and usability
  • Coding
  • Search engine-friendliness
  • Conversion effectiveness
  • Off-site items

Content

Your website's content is critical to the success of your search engine optimization campaign. If the site is full of duplicate content, then it might be time to start over, or at the very least do some extensive rewriting. I will also look to see if there is enough content, both in the number of pages and in the sheer number of words on the pages, to cover all of the keywords that we have targeted. If not, we'll need to expand the site.

General Appearance and Usability

The look and feel of your website is obviously important. It will ultimately determine how long people spend on your site, and then whether or not those visitors who do stay more than 10 seconds will contact you. The design relates to the content because if the design is terrible, no one will read the content.

Usability is also key. If you have a beautiful site, but visiting the site is more like working a puzzle than reading a website, it won't be effective in converting traffic into phone calls and emails. It may not even be confusing, but it might not be obvious how to get to things. You have to have a stupid-simple navigation that will allow visitors to quickly get to the information that they're looking for.

Coding

I am a well-rounded Internet marketing consultant, and I know enough about coding to get most tasks done as they relate to Web design, but if your website is programmed in a funky way that would inhibit me from doing my best work, we'll either have to agree not to work together, or do a website overhaul to code it in a more standard format. A website's coding can also inhibit search engine optimization if it's not coded properly. You encounter this a lot with content management system (CMS) websites.

Search Engine-Friendliness

Really, this is analyzing the content and coding and how they interplay within the website from the search engines' perspective. Your website might have good content, but bad coding or vice versa. If it fails the search engine test at any step of the way, we'll have to fix it before we move forward.

Conversion Effectiveness

Your site may look pretty, and it may have informative content, but was it designed to SELL? That's what your website is, at least in part: a sales tool. If your website focuses too much on the "cool" factor or on exuding a particular feeling of luxury, warmth, etc, and doesn't get down to business and prompt people to take action, then you might as well have written a letter to your mom and posted it on the Internet instead of your website. You'll get just as much business from it. People will ooo and aaah over your site, but then they'll click the ‘Back' button and keep looking for something that actually motivates them to do something. And when they're motivated, they're not going to think, "Oh, what was that really cool site? I want to contact them." No, they will contact the website that they are currently on. Conversion is a critical piece of the Internet marketing puzzle.

Off-site Items

When it comes to search engine rankings, your actual website isn't the only thing that Google and the other search engines look at. As part of the website analysis, I will look at the age of your domain name, how many links your website has, your competitors' websites, how old their websites are, and how many links they have. What features do they have on their websites that you don't (ex. videos, blogs, etc)? There are so many things to consider beyond just your website.

A thorough website analysis takes a lot of work, so I don't do them for everybody, but if we feel that there's a strong likelihood that we'll be working together, I will do a complete website analysis free of charge. Contact me today if you're interested.
